Classic Game Room HD – CASTLEVANIA REBIRTH for Nintendo Wii review
January 29th, 2010 by VC Review
Classic Game Room HD reviews CASTLEVANIA THE ADVENTURE REBIRTH for Nintendo Wii. This is a downloadable game from wiiware on Nintendo’s online service for Nintendo Wii. For a few dollars you get a new Castlevania adventure with a retro 2D style reminiscent of the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis versions of Castlevania. Fans of the old school NES games like Simon’s Quest will get a kick out of the style and gameplay. Amazing synthesizer music with an old school feel pumps through the speakers as you waste eyeballs and skeletons with a whip while moving through the castle. From Konami, Castlevania Rebirth is a cool remake of the Castlevania games that should make fans of the series happy. Now it’s time to whip some eyeball jellyfish! This CGR review of Castlevania Rebirth on Nintendo Wii has gameplay from the wiiware game Castlevania Rebirth (Wii Ware, Virtual Console)

Small critique, talk about the game! Weapons? Bosses? Levels?

The reason it’s “Wii Ware” is that it runs “natively” on the Wii.
The virtual Console games are emulated. It just helps show the difference between New and Old games.

I heard a rumor that Konami is planning on releasing a Castlevania Collection for Wii and PSP to hype Lords of Shadow. The collection at least acording to rumor has every Castlevania game from 8, 16 and 32 bit era.

I have this game on the original Game Boy, and when I was a kid I was NEVER able to get past the 4th stage [the one with the advancing/chasing spiked walls]
Hard for my memory to tell how much this has in common with the original, but I certainly don’t recognize most of the stages, or the music?

PS1
Saturn (Japan only, with unique bonusses)
XBLA (Straight PS1 port, I think)
PSP (Dracula X Chronicles unlockable, with new voice acting and stuff)

Nice review as always. It’s worth mentioning, if it already hasn’t been, that this is actually a remake of the first Castlevania for the original Gameboy. I was glad to see it remade, but I was sad that they chose random songs from other Castlevania games instead of remixing the game’s original music. Battle for the Holy is still one of my favorite old Castlevania tunes.

I was just thinking you should review Symphony of the Night for Plastation. OR Rondo of Blood if you have a PC engine,
or Castlevania 3 (NES), or 4 (SNES)…
