Classic Game Room HD – Wii CLASSIC CONTROLLER PRO review

July 25th, 2010 by VC Review

Classic Game Room HD reviews the Nintendo Wii CLASSIC CONTROLLER PRO video game controller accessory. The Nintendo Wii Classic Controller Pro is a reworking of the original Wii Classic Controller with more of a PS2 controller feel. In fact, held up to a standard Playstation 2 controller you’ll see that they look remarkably similar. Both have hand grippy things, dual analog sticks and four buttons that are easily pressable on the front of the controller. The older Classic Controller has more of an SNES gamepad feel while the new one is slightly larger (because of the handles) and more comfortable in CGR’s opinion. This controller is perfect for games like Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri and old school arcade shooters like Dead Moon and Biohazard Battle. This hardware review of the Nintendo Wii Classic Controller Pro reviews the Classic Controller Pro with HD video showing the piano gloss finish (which fingerprints easily) and details on the Wii accessory.

July 24th, 2010 by VC Review

Classic Game Room HD reviews MONSTER HUNTER TRI for Nintendo Wii from Capcom. Monster Hunter 3 Tri gameplay is solid and reminiscent of many PS2 adventure games. Played with the Nintendo Wii Classic Controller Pro you’ll get solid game play and controls when crushing monsters in Monster Hunter Tri, a massive RPG adventure style game with multiplayer. This gigantic hunter / gatherer adventure won’t be found on Playstation 3 PS3 or Xbox 360, Monster Hunter Tri is a Nintendo Wii exclusive title that will keep gamers occupied for days and weeks on end. Classic Game Room HD – Wii NUNCHUK review

July 9th, 2010 by VC Review

CGRHD does what Nintendidn’t do in the first place. Classic Game Room HD reviews the Wii NUNCHUK for use with the Nintendo Wii video game system and Wiimote wii remote controller. Be like a ninja when you play driving games, Metroid or whatever with this Nunchaku based controller called the nunchuck. Is it an awesome accessory or just an awesome way for Nintendo to relieve you of your greenbacks? Classic Game Room reviews Wii accessories, controllers, hardware and add-ons like the Wii Nunchuck showing video footage of it in action and how it is not as effective for attacking ninjas as a real nunchuck. We demand the Wii morningstar! Bring it! Bring the medieval pain! CGRHD is the ultimate Wee Wii reviewer screaming Weeeee while playing Wii with Wii controllers and Wii accessories whilst ‘illin. What games work with the Wii nunchuck? There are lots of fighting games and boxing games and action games and Mario games that use the Nunchuck controller.

Classic Game Room HD – TURBOGRAFX-16 TURBOPAD controller review

April 12th, 2010 by VC Review

Classic Game Room HD reviews the TURBOGRAFX-16 TURBOPAD Controller for Turbografx16 video game console. This Turbo Pad for Turbo Grafx 16 is very similar to the NES gamepad but with more molding, rounded features and different colors. Two buttons and a single d-pad, along with a select and run button and turbo fire, make the Turbografx-16 Turbopad an excellent controller for shooters and arcade style action games. The Turbografx16 is a 16-bit game console and has games similar to what you’ll find on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Shooters like Blazing Lazers are excellent and are fun to play with the Turbo Pad. Many of the TG16 games can be found on Wii Virtual Console Today, but you can’t download the Turbografx-16 Turbopad! This is a CGR hardware review of the Turbografx-16 TG16 Turbopad for the US Model turbografx-16. This gamepad will be used in all CGR Turbografx-16 video game reviews.

Sonic & Knuckles. Virtual Console Gameplay Video.

March 14th, 2010 by VC Review

Sega’s Sonic & Knuckles (for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive) finally arrives for the Wii’s Virtual Console in the Wii Shop Channel. You can even lock on with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. To do that, just press the (-) button during the Sonic & Knuckles game. If you’re using a GCN controller…Press the Z button to bring up the menu. I highly recomend the game. It’s only 800 Wii points (8$) so it’s a pretty good deal if you ask me! Well, go on! Go get the game…NOW!

gamecube to Wiimote adapter

March 11th, 2010 by VC Review

Here’s a video of a little gamecube pad to Wii Remote adapter that I rigged up. The console sees the adapter as a Classic Controller. It’s missing some buttons (-, home, ZL), but those are rarely used (Start maps to +). This lets me play SSBB, Mario Kart, and VC games using a plain gamecube pad without having to use the questionable Classic Controller, and without a wavebird. It also works with the System Menu, as you can see in the beginning of the video. Since wavebirds are out of production, this is probably the only way of using an official Nintendo gamecube pad with the Wii, wirelessly. The guts: a PIC18F4520 microcontroller, and that’s pretty much it. A couple resistors and capacitors, and the quartz crystal are all that there is to the hardware part. I cut up a Nunchuk extension cord for the Wiimote plug, and made a crappy GC connector out of a piece of circuit board. This uses the Wii Remote’s power supply. The big flashing board that you can see to the left is an FPGA used as a logic analyzer for debugging, but it has nothing to do with the actual adapter (I unplug it halfway through the video).
