Super Mario 64 VC Review

February 25th, 2010 by VC Review

!BLOCK SIZE 93! This is a review of the N64 classic now available to download on Nintendo Wii via the Virtual Console This is a review from the perspective of this being a VC game and not a review of the N64 original. If you’ve only came to flame, then don’t bother. Comments will be removed and users will be blocked. I am fine to discuss the game with people, but I did not put this up to get flamed.

For some reason I find this game more addicting than you make it out to be. I just cannot stop playing it. Seeing this video makes me wanna play this yet again.

    Nope.

    Older brother and incapacity benefit.

Have several dissabillities and gov say I can’t work as I’d be a danger to myself and others with poor vision for one, so get payed not to work.

Not enough to buy houses, so pay bills and what’s left just buy games.

Not much left and with the recession if Panda wasn’t putting 5,000 points on a month I’d have not done a vid since X-MAS.

o i thought you ment getting the same star 6 or 7 times my bad i guess you have a point then

  10. Jimmy7524 said:

It’s not the same thing in the N64 and the NDS

  11. DEIVION212 said:

So how do you get the other 6 stars then?

100 coin star is one playthrough, then what about the other 6?

  12. DKMARIODUDE said:

i dont know what you’re talking about you only have to replay each level once to get the 100 coin star you never had to play the same level 7 times butthats just my opinion if u dont like the game watever

  13. DEIVION212 said:

Total waste of money if you do bud, the NDS version is MUCH better.

i already have it on ds should i get it on the vc?

  15. redflicky said:

    best game ever!!! =)

    deserves……..a 10/10!

  16. redflicky said:

    I disagree.

  17. DEIVION212 said:

Wish I could help bud, but I bought it by accident (The old yes/no swap got me) and I haven’t bothered beating it on the VC because I didn’t enjoy doing the 120 stars on the N64.

So I got enough done to show things off for a vid and haven’t gone back to it.

Does thsi happen to you when you beat the game? I defeat Bowser in the Sky and then it does the movie, the credits, and then the stupid cake scene. When I get there, I don’t know if it freezes up or what but I tried pushing all the buttons and it never saved, so I can’t beat the game! It’s so annoying!

Only thing I find it misses is 3D puzzles.

I think the newer ones with Wind powers & Wolf abillities are just too gimmick. ALTTP & OOT are no nonsence.

MM had about as much nonsence as I could handle, lol. Simply because the masks added a lot of depth to the puzzles, but I hate the time element.

Pretty much why I hated Ages, all time, no masks, lol.

Minish and Phantom were just bleh IMO. Really poor.

I liked Seasons though, and LOVED Link’s Awakening.

    TLOZ and 2, meh.

    Never played CDi XD

  20. STEFANROCKER23 said:

LTTP misses a lot of stuff later Zeldas have so that’s why I think it feels empty. But you’re right Mario 64 is nothing compared to other platformers like Banjo Kazooie.

  21. DEIVION212 said:

I still find Zelda ALTTP more playable than some of the newer ones, but with this I just never found it revolutionary.

  22. STEFANROCKER23 said:

I don’t really like Mario 64 it’s too overrated.. I mean it was revolutionary for it’s time, but now I just don’t feel like playing it. It reminds me of Link to the Past. Great back then but compared to the newer Zelda games, it feels empty..

  23. DEIVION212 said:

I’d say that the others were harder, but how can a game with 40+ planets/levels have less depth than ones that only just scraped 10?

  24. Dimitri0809 said:

I still liked Galaxy but it didn’t have much depth when you compare it to SM64 and Sunshine.

    Fine by me :)
